India’s defence minister Rajnath Singh said last year it was “completely incorrect and baseless to say that the military action was stopped because of pressure”.Last year’s ceasefire between Iran and Israel commenced on June 24 last year, Mr Trump confirmed – again, on Truth Social. Although both sides denied that a ceasefire was agreed to, one was held nonetheless. In response to the ceasefire announcement, Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi last year said: “As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations.”He added that if Israel stopped military action by 4am, Iran would not continue military operations, which it has held. The war between Russia and Ukraine continues, but has not become nuclear – despite Russia’s threats.Mr Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met last month to discuss peace plans, with both sides hailing progress, but disputes remain over how much territory Ukraine will cede to Russia. The Ukrainian President said the peace plan was “90 per cent ready” earlier this year.He added: “10 percent remains… Those 10 percent contain, in fact, everything.”Mr Trump also addressed the The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, also known as New Start, which expired on Wednesday.New Start limited the number of nuclear warheads Russia and the US were allowed to hold, and was signed in 2010 by former presidents Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev. He said: “Rather than extend New Start (A badly negotiated deal by the United States that, aside from everything else, is being grossly violated), we should have our nuclear experts work on a new, improved, and modernised treaty that can last long into the future.”LATEST FROM THE WHITE HOUSE:Donald Trump eyes £116m investment in Cornish tin mine as China trade war heats upKeir Starmer pulls Chagos ‘surrender’ vote as Donald Trump delivers verdict on PM’s dealDonald Trump withdraws 700 Ice agents from Minnesota with immediate effecThe President has previously suggested a new treaty should include China, which has expanded their nuclear arsenal.Russia has suggested western Europe’s nuclear powers, the UK and France, should also be included in the treaty. The statement also said: “The United States is the most powerful Country in the World.
