President Donald Trump’s State department welcomed Tommy Robinson to Washington DC. The political activist met Joe Rittenhouse, an adviser to the State Department, and Randy Fine, a Republican congressman, whilst visiting the United States this week. Mr Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, said he visited the country to give a “warning” and make “alliances and friendships”.He was given a tour of the US Foreign Ministry on Wednesday by Mr Rittenhouse, who said he was “honoured” to have met the “free speech warrior”, referring to him as a “friend”.

He said: “The world and the West is a better place when we fight for freedom of speech and no one has been on the front lines more than Tommy.”On Tuesday, Mr Robinson held meetings with Mr Fine, Keith Self, also a Republican congressman, and General Mike Flynn, the former national security adviser, The Telegraph reports. Mr Fine said it was “great to meet” Mr Robinson, thanking him for “leading the fight”. Mr Self wrote: “Great meeting with American Patriot Gen Flynn and British Patriot Robinson today. DEFEND WESTERN CIVILIZATION.
